Terragene participated in the KACSDN 2026 Autumn Academic Conference, held on October 16 in Seoul, South Korea, presenting its latest solutions for healthcare process monitoring. The event provided an opportunity to introduce CaviTest®, a new auto-reader designed to bring greater objectivity and standardization to cavitation testing in ultrasonic washers, alongside Bionova® Photon® and Hyper sterilization monitoring solutions.

Representing Terragene at the conference, South Korea Country Manager SG Lee met with Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) professionals to discuss process control, monitoring practices and technologies that support more consistent evaluation of healthcare reprocessing procedures.

CaviTest: Bringing Objectivity to Ultrasonic Cavitation Testing

One of the highlights of Terragene’s participation was CaviTest, an auto-reader developed to standardize the interpretation of cavitation test indicators used in ultrasonic cleaning processes. By converting indicator readings into objective, documented results, the device helps reduce reliance on visual interpretation and supports a more consistent approach to monitoring ultrasonic washer performance.

Ultrasonic cleaning is an important stage in the reprocessing of medical and surgical instruments. Monitoring cavitation energy helps professionals evaluate a key aspect of the cleaning process and supports the implementation of systematic quality control practices.

CaviTest reads compatible Chemdye® CDWU and CDWU-Z cavitation indicators, providing a clear Pass/Fail result. Its three reading positions allow simultaneous assessment of multiple indicators, while an integrated thermal printer enables immediate documentation. USB connectivity also allows results to be recorded on a computer using Bionova® Q Traceability software.

These capabilities support a transition from subjective visual assessment toward objective results and traceable records, helping healthcare facilities strengthen documentation and improve consistency in ultrasonic cleaning monitoring.

By presenting CaviTest at KACSDN 2026, Terragene highlighted an approach to cavitation testing that connects routine monitoring with documented evidence, supporting professionals in their ongoing efforts to maintain reliable reprocessing practices.

Complementary Solutions for Sterilization Monitoring

Alongside CaviTest®, Terragene presented Bionova® Photon® and Hyper, demonstrating how different technologies can support monitoring across distinct sterilization processes.

The BPH Bionova® Photon® Auto-Reader Incubator is designed for the incubation and automatic fluorescence readout of BT225 self-contained biological indicators used in steam sterilization processes.

Its seven-second readout provides rapid results, helping healthcare professionals obtain biological indicator readings within a short timeframe. The system also incorporates connectivity options that support integration with digital tools and recordkeeping workflows.

Terragene also showcased the BHY Bionova® Hyper Auto-Reader Incubator, developed for the incubation and automatic fluorescence readout of BT98 hyper-rapid self-contained biological indicators used in hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) sterilization processes.

Hyper delivers a five-minute readout and generates unique result IDs, supporting the identification and documentation of test results. Its connectivity capabilities, including USB, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, also enable integration with digital workflows.

Presented alongside CaviTest, they formed part of Terragene’s broader portfolio of solutions for healthcare process monitoring.
